Default Mk 2 8v Golf Gti speedometer

Michael McL waffled on in a quite bewildering manner to produce...
Mark - There's loads of varients of clocks sadly but the Corrado
never shared any of them. It has a completly different arrangment and
style of clocks and a more rounded look too. The part code for the
clocks is on the bottom edge underneath the trip and clock adjustment
- you need to remoev the clocks to see it. It's a small white sticker
and that's the code you want. If you're still stuggling tomorrow with
it I'll post the number from mine (I removed two sets of clocks from
two GTi Golfs this afternoon) I don't think either of my clocks start
with "533" - I think that's the wrong number.

If you do need new clocks I'd recommend a scrappers or Ebay. Make
sure all indications are the same - Scirocco clocks work too if you
get really stuck (They're not ideal as they are missing the side tabs
that hold the clocks in on a GTi - you don't really need them as
other mounting points are available...it just keeps it as standard as
it should be)

If you're unlucky enough (or lucky if yours DID work) to own an
ecomomy edition dash (Right in the middle at the top is a yellow
arrow and a needle to give approx MPG)it's very hard to source them -
likewise 140mph on an 8v. I believe though your clocks are the common
ones - 120mph, temp in centre top and these are quite common.

Heh, you think that's unlucky, mine's got the economy gauge AND a 220 KM/H
speedo... (136 MPH)

by the way, intermittant temp gauge, works when it's cold and damp out..
hmm.
